Master Rafael Solano: Celebrating his Legacy Through ‘Por Amor Through the Seasons'”

Carnegie Hall in New York witnessed an extraordinary event last Wednesday, October 25, 2023, time 7:30 pm, within the framework of the 4th Annual Heritage Concert: titled “For love through the seasons.” This magical musical evening celebrated the cultural legacy of the Dominican community on a world-renowned stage.

The concert was highlighted by the outstanding performance of the talented Dominican violinist, Aisha Syed, and the teacher-pianist Rafael Solano, whose music has transcended borders and touched hearts for decades. The ceremony had an especially emotional moment when the Madre y Maestra Foundation, headed by Dr. Mercedes Capellán Lama, announced that it was granting the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to maestro Rafael Solano, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Dominican music, the official ceremony It will be held in the city of Santo Domingo, at the Pontifical Catholic Mother and Teacher University, Dominican Republic.

 

 

 

 

The evening included a selection of unforgettable compositions, from the iconic “Song for Love,” written 55 years ago, to the masterpieces of Antonio Vivaldi and Astor Piazzolla. Highlighting the live performance of Rafael Solano, whose “A Spring for the World” shone as a testimony to his genius.

We cannot help but applaud the tireless efforts of the organizing committee, made up of names like Fresia Olivero, Ana Rita Olivero, Dra. Carmen Lazala, Seny Taveras, and, above all, the charismatic master of ceremony, Damaris Díaz, from the television network Univision. Her tireless dedication made this night truly memorable.

 

 

 

 

 

The 4th Annual Heritage Concert was not only a tribute to Dominican cultural wealth, but also a gift to the Latino community in New York City. This event transcended the seasons of the year and reminded us that music is a universal language capable of uniting hearts in an embrace of harmony and love, the AHPSI, appreciates the invitation, thank you Dr. Carmen Rodriguez, for participating in this great concert, representing us together with Dr. Aritmedes Restituyo.
